About Borovets
Borovets, the first and most famous Bulgarian mountain resort, is situated on the northern slopes of the Rila Mountain at an altitude of 1300 meters. The resort enjoys a perfect location right at the foot of Mount Musala (2 925 m), the highest peak on the Balkans. Only 72 km away from Sofia and just 126 km away from Plovdiv, Borovets is easily accessible from all parts of Bulgaria.
Stunning snow scenery, sun and of course a great variety of ski runs – 24 tracks with a total length of 58 km. The ski runs offer various degrees of difficulty levels and traffic intensity and are suitable for beginners as well as for advanced and expert skiers.
The ski runs are grouped in 3 regions: Sitnyakovo–Martinovi Baraki, Markudzhik and Yastrebets. After the day is over, the resort continues to be just as busy and full of bustling life thanks to the conditions provided for night skiing and the numerous cozy taverns and bars. Borovets is a challenging and favorite place for snowboarders to whom the resort offers terrains of various difficulty levels.

The ski season usually spans from mid-December till April.
There are three ski centers in Borovets ski resort:
- Sitnyakovo ski center – starting from 1350 m altitude up to 1780 m.
- Yastrebetz ski center – from 1340 m up to 2369 m.
- Markudjik ski center – from 2144 m up to 2550 m.
The resort offers excellent conditions for winter sports: alpine skiing, cross country, and snowboarding. There are 58 km of marked ski runs for alpine skiing.The cross country trails are 35 km long, designed according to the requirements of FIS (Fédération Internationale de Ski), at minimum width of 6 m.
